The word yoga means union. In yoga, we don't just do exercises or poses, we connect the mind, body and breath with each pose. It is a mindful practice of positioning the body to gain flexibility, strength, or balance and training the mind to focus. Yoga can be a lifelong process of growth and self discovery.
We teach Hatha yoga (physical yoga poses), but we combine aspects of many types of yoga into our private sessions. We take into consideration the different levels and needs of our students to the very best of our ability. Our goal is to help each person experience the many benefits of yoga in both body and mind. All ages, fitness levels, as well as students with physical limitations and health concerns can be accommodated at our studio.
The Yoga and Wellness Education Centre is not a fitness center or a spa. It is a beautiful, serene space with incredible positive energy. It is a boutique studio that is small enough to enable us to get to know you and meet your individual needs. All of our yoga teachers, at a minimum, are 200 hour certified and are registered with The Yoga Alliance.
Wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to move freely. If you wear shorts, be aware that you'll be sitting in many positions so you do not want them to fit loosely in the legs. A top that fits snugly enough to not slide up or down or that can be tucked in will allow you to enjoy getting into the many interesting yoga poses. Yoga is practiced in bare feet, but you may also wear non-slip yoga socks. Please remove your shoes upon entering the studio and leave them in the entry area. No shoes are allowed past the sliding door leading into the yoga practice area.
You do not need to bring anything with you. We provide the yoga mats and all other props necessary for you to fully participate in our yoga sessions. Mats are disinfected after each use. Water is provided if you become thirsty. The room is kept around 72-78 degrees.
You should try to get to class about 5-10 minutes before your session starts, if possible.
The first thing you do is take off your shoes in the entry room. Secondly, you will sign in on the book at the small table on the right side of the yoga practice room. A small wooden box is provided for your payment near the sign-in book.
